The Departmental Management Suite provides the ability to decentralize many processes within the organization to- departmental units with budgetary and operational responsibility without the loss of control often associated with this type of activity. This is particularly important in larger organizations where departments are responsible for their administrative and budgetary responsibilities. Using Departmental Management, staff members may be given different responsibilities based on specific application requirements for particular financial units. This information is set up in a departmental security system that limits access to those application areas and particular financial units for which they are approved. The access to financial unit data extends from specific funds down to unique department numbers within the General Ledger. This type of granularity is important to provide the necessary controls without interfering in existing workflow.
